Ingredients Serving: 2
Aahar dal 1/3 cup
Radish peeled and sliced 3/4 cup
Water 2 cups
Onion diced 1/4 cup
Tomato 1/2 cup sliced
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Dal channe 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves 12
Hing a pinch
Fenugreek seeds 6
Sambhar powder 2 tsp
Lemon sized tamarind
Salt 1 tsp
Turmeric 1/2 rsp
Red chillies 1
Green chillies 1 small seeds removed
Desi ghee - 2 tbsp
Instructions
Wash dal and soak in water for 1/2 hour at least.
Soak tamarind in 1/4 cup water.
Grind fenugreek seeds and hing together.
In a pressure cooker boil 2 cups of water.. Add sliced radish and dal, salt, turmeric in. Pressure cook it for 15 min on low heat.
Open lid of pressure cooker and mash Dal.
In a wok take a teaspoon of ghee. Add some channa dal and fry. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves. Add diced onions and saute it.
Add sliced tomatoes and cook till soft.
Add tamarind juice and cook till rawness of tamarind goes away
Mix tomato mixture with dal and cook. If thick add some hot water.
In another pan add remaining ghee add hing+ fenugreek powder. put whole red chilli in it.
Stir for a while and mix it with dal.
Serve Mullangi Sambhar with rice.
