ABOUT Keema Pulav RECIPE

An easy delicious pulav made with Mutton mince. Spicy, full of flavours, looks simple yet nothing less than a biryani. Can be served as a one pot meal. Make it on your weekend or for your special guests. It's always inviting.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Mutton mince (keema) - 300 gms
  2. Basmati rice - 3 cups
  3. Water - 6 cups
  4. For the keema fry:
  5. Onion chopped - 2 large
  6. Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsps
  7. Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  8. Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Water - 1/2 cup to cook
  11. Oil - 3 tbsps
  12. For tempering :
  13. Onion - 1 large thinly sliced
  14. Green chillies - 3 to 4 sliced
  15. Curry leaves - a handfull
  16. Kasuri Methi leaves - 1/4 cup
  17. Whole spices :
  18. Cardamon - 2
  19. Cloves - 2
  20. Cinnamon - 1 "
  21. Bay leaves-2
  22. Ghee - 2 tbsps
  23. Salt

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak the basmati rice for 15 minutes
  2. Add oil to a deep pressure pan. Add ginger garlic paste and saute. Next throw in the chopped onions and saute till slighty browned.
  3. Add spices and a little salt. Saute for a minute and add in the washed Mutton mince.
  4. Stir fry for few minutes add 1/2 cup water and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Check if done on cooling or Simmer covered for few minutes.
  5. In the mean while add the 6 cups water required for the rice to cook along with the whole spices, ghee and salt. Cook in a rice cooker. Once done open and fluff it in a wide big thali/ plate.
  6. Take a wide kadhai for tempering. Add oil. Throw in the sliced onions, curry leaves, green chillies, crushed methi leaves. Saute.
  7. Add the cooked fluffed rice to it. Now add the cooked keema. Stir fry on high mixing well.
  8. Yummy Keema Pulav ready to dig in.
