ABOUT Dahi aloo masala ( No onions ) RECIPE

Potatoes cooked in yogurt with very less spices adds flavour to this dish . A quick semi dry version that could enjoyed with rice / roti / pulaos . No onion version .

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Potatoes Medium sized 3 , skin peeled and chopped into small cubes .
  2. Yogurt 120 millilitre
  3. Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  4. Ginger garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  5. Salt 1 teaspoon
  6. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  7. Coriander powder 1/4 teaspoon
  8. Pepper powder 1 teaspoon
  9. Chole masala powder 1 teaspoon
  10. water 1/4 glass
  11. Ghee 1 tablespoon
  12. Cilantros freshly chopped for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp.Yogurt 120ml.Cumin seeds 1tsp.Chilli powder 1 tsp.Coriander powder 1/4tsp
  2. Salt 1 tsp.Potatoes Medium 3. Ghee 1 tablespoon.Pepper powder 1/2 tsp. Water 1/4 glass
  3. Firstly chop the potatoes into bite size pieces .
  4. Chole masala for flavour and for a slight tanginess 1 tsp.
  5. Heat ghee in a kadai .
  6. Crackle cumin seeds .
  7. Fry a teaspoon of ginger garlic paste .
  8. Add the chopped potatoes . Fry gently .
  9. Add the yogurt . Mix well .
  10. Allow to cook for 2 minutes .
  11. Add 1 tsp chilli powder , 1/4 tsp coriander powder , 1 tsp chole masala.
  12. Add salt . Pour 1/4 glass water . Mix well .
  13. Cover the kadai and let the potatoes cook for 7 minutes under low-medium flame .
  14. Keep stirring in between to prevent potatoes , masala getting burnt at the bottom .
  15. Finally , once the potatoes are done , add pepper powder .
  16. Add chopped fresh coriander leaves .
  17. Dahi aloo masala is ready . Enjoy with rice / rotis / pulaos . This is a semi dry version .
