ABOUT Banana Fritters / Ethakka Appam / Pazham Pori RECIPE

Its a traditional dish served as snacks in Kerala. It is usually prepared with Maida, rice flour, sugar and pinch of baking soda. I used wheat flour and sooji to make crispy Pazham Pori.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Nendram Pazham / Kerala Banana 2
  2. For batter
  3. Wheat flour/ Maida 1/2 cup
  4. Sooji / Rice flour 1 tbsp
  5. Sugar 1 tbsp
  6. Turmeric powder pinch
  7. Cardamon powder 1/2 tsp
  8. oil for deep fry

Instructions

  1. TAKE 1/2 CUP WHEAT FLOUR OR ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
  2. USE RIPE FIRM NENDRAM PAZHAM OR KERALA BANANA
  3. ADD PINCH OF TURMERIC POWDER, 1 TBSP SUGAR, 1 TBSP SOOJI / RICE FLOUR, 1/2 TSP ELAICHI
  4. MIX WELL
  5. ADD ENOUGH WATER AND MIX WELL
  6. BATTER SHOULD BE MODERATELY THICK TO COAT BANANA STRIPS. SET ASIDE
  7. CUT BANANA INTO TWO.CUT MEDIUM THICK STRIPS
  8. COAT BANANA STRIPS WITH BATTER
  9. DEEP FRY THEM ON MEDIUM FLAME
  10. FLIP ON BOTH SIDES TO COOK. COOK TILL COLOUR CHANGES TO GOLDEN BROWN
  11. SERVE HOT
