ABOUT Nela Basale Curry RECIPE

Nela basale is rich in vitamin A, B1 and C. It is also an excellent source of magnesium, calcium, potassium and iron. It's curry is relished with hot rice.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Nela basale 3 bunch
  2. Salt to taste
  3. Water
  4. Cooking oil 3 tsp
  5. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  6. Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  7. Methi seeds 1/2 tsp
  8. Coriander seeds 1 tbsp
  9. Byadagi chilli 5-6
  10. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  11. Curry leaves 1 string
  12. Tamarind gooseberry sized
  13. Water 1 cup to grind
  14. Jaggery syrup 1/4 tsp
  15. Seasoning ingredients...
  16. Cooking oil 1 tsp
  17. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  18. Red chilli 1
  19. Curry leaves 1 string

Instructions

  1. WASH AND CHOP VERDOLAGA OR NELABASALE OR MALBAR SPINACH WHICH GROWS ON GROUND
  2. ADD SUFFICIENT WATER AND CHOPPED SPINACH
  3. ADD SALT TO TASTE, COVER AND COOK
  4. OPEN THE LID, CHECK THE COOKNESS, TAKE OFF FLAME
  5. HEAT OIL
  6. METHI 1/2 TSP, MUSTARD SEEDS 1 TSP, JEERA 1/2 TSP
  7. CORIANDER SEEDS 1 TBSP
  8. BYADAGI CHILLI 5-6
  9. FRY TILL GOOD AROMA IN LOW FLAME, ADD TURMERIC POWDER 1/4 TSP
  10. TURN OFF THE FLAME ADD CURRY LEAVES AND CONTINUE SAUTE
  11. COCONUT GRATINGS 2 CUP
  12. TAMARIND, WATER
  13. ADD FRIED MASALA
  14. GRIND SMOOTHLY
  15. TRANSFER GROUND MASALA PASTE INTO COOKED SPINACH, ADD SUFFICIENT WATER IF REQUIRED
  16. ADD JAGGERY SYRUP
  17. MIX WELL AND BRING IT TO BOIL FINELY
  18. HEAT OIL ADD MUSTARD SEEDS AND RED CHILLI, LET IT SPLUTTER
  19. ADD CURRY LEAVES
  20. ADD SEASONING
  21. BRING IT TO BOIL FINELY
  22. TAKE OFF FLAME AND SERVE WITH HOT RICE
