Kodi Kura is andhra spicy chicken gravy, which prepared with poppy seeds and coconut paste with Guntur chilly powder.It goes well and idly,dosa,Paratha,chappathi and rice.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. “To Roast & Grind “
  2. Coconut grated - 1/4 cup
  3. Poppy seeds - 2 tbsp
  4. Garlic - 8 pods
  5. Ginger - 1” Piece
  6. Coriander powder- 1 tbsp
  7. Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
  8. Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
  9. Guntur Chili Powder - 3/4 Tbsp
  10. To Marinade
  11. Chicken- 3/4 Kg
  12. Guntur Chili Powder - 1 Tsp
  13. Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
  14. Salt- 1 tsp
  15. To cook
  16. Shallots- 10-15 Chopped
  17. Tomato- 1 big (Grinded)
  18. Salt - 3 Tsp(To Taste)
  19. Oil - 3 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Wash the chicken well and drain water completely. Pat it using paper towel absorb excess water .
  2. Now marinade chicken with 1 Tsp Guntur chili powder, turmeric powder and salt 1 Tsp.
  3. Keep it aside for atleast 20 minutes
  4. Meanwhile to grind paste , in a heated pan roast poppy seeds well .
  5. After roasting the poppy seeds keep it aside.
  6. Now roast the grated coconut well
  7. Add ginger garlic roast well , add turmeric powder,Garam masala & coriander powder roast well
  8. Add Guntur chili powder mix well and add roasted poppy seeds finally and mix well
  9. Add cloves and Cinnamon stick and switch off the flame
  10. Let it Cool completely and grind into paste.
  11. Heat a pressure cooker add oil let it heat
  12. Add finally chopped onion and sauté well.
  13. Add grinded tomato paste when onion turns golden brown.
  14. When tomato turns mushy add the marinated chicken mix well
  15. Add salt mix well then add grinded masala paste mix throughly.
  16. Add water atleast 2 cups to cook chicken stir well
  17. Close the lid and pressure cook for 1 whistle and switch off the flame
  18. Open the lid after pressure gets cool down completely, stir well.
  19. Check for the spice level add if you need anything let the gravy boil for 5 more minutes until it comes to required consistency.
