Raajma chaawal is one of the staple food of Punjab and truely punjabi r much fond of it

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cup Rajma
  2. 3-4 Chopped Onions
  3. 3 chopped tomatoes
  4. 1 pieces Ginger
  5. 8 garlic cloves
  6. 1 bay leaf
  7. A small piece of cinnamon
  8. 1 tsp salt
  9. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  10. 1 tsp dhaniya masala
  11. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  12. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  13. 3 glass water
  14. For rice ingredients are
  15. 2 cup rice
  16. 1 tsp salt
  17. 1/2 tsp oil
  18. water 4 cups

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak raajma overnight. In morning add water almost half of cooker with water... add salt and soaked raajma and cover with lid
  2. Allow the whistle to blow for 10-15 minutes so that raajma r soft and cooked.Take the boiled raajma with water aside in a big plate..
  3. Now take oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds to crackle. Add onions to sauté till pinkish.. onions should be finally chopped.
  4. In the meantime make a paste of tomatoes, garlic cloves and ginger with green chilli in a mixer grinder. Add the paste in the pressure cooker when onions r sautéed.
  5. Add all dry spices and finally add raajma with water which we kept aside. Now cook it for another 7-8 minutes till all dry spices r mixed well. Ur raajma masala is ready to be served. Garnish with coriander leaves...
  6. Boiling rice method
  7. Take basmati rice, wash it properly and soak it for 1/2 hours.
  8. Take water in a big pan. Allow the water to boil and then add a pinch of oil and 1 tsp salt in it. Mix well.
  9. Now add Rice in it . When rice r almost half cooked, it will be seen floating at the top.
  10. Now cover it with lid for about 5 minutes. Then drain off the excess water and sieve it properly.
  11. Ur starch free rice r ready to be consumed with Rajma masala..
