A traditional north indian recipe .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rajma - 250gms
  2. onions - 3
  3. Garlic leaves - 6
  4. Haldi -1 tspn
  5. Chilli powder - 1/2 tspn
  6. Dhaniya powder - 1/2 tspn
  7. Garam masala - 1 tspn
  8. Green cardamoms - 4
  9. Lwang - 3 to 4
  10. Ginger garlic paste -1 tspn
  11. Tomato - 1 big
  12. Water -1 3/4 glass
  13. Salt
  14. Oil

Instructions

  1. Soak the rajmas overnight or for 1 and a half hour.
  2. Grind onions and garlic in a mixer to a form a puree.
  3. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds, bay leaf, green chillies, ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute.
  4. Now add grinded onions and garlic and cook till the raw aroma of onion vanishes.
  5. Start adding masala.. haldi, chilli powder, dhaniya powder, garam masala, green cardamom, lwang and cook till masala leaves oil.
  6. Once it's done, add tomato puree,mix well and cook for 5 min.
  7. When it's cooked, add rajma and coat it well with masala.
  8. Add 1 and 3/4 glass of water, salt , mix and allow for 4 whistles on high flame and 4 whistles on low flame.
  9. Switch off the flame, allow it to rest. Serve it with chawal.
