ABOUT Fish biriyani RECIPE

A delicious and simple fish biriyani recipe made with herring fish. Any sea fish can be used to prepare this like king fish, Indian Salmon etc. Serve it with raita for a delicious meal. This can be served even in parties or when you have guests at home.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Fish marination
  2. Herring fish 2
  3. Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
  4. Red chilly powder 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Salt 1/2 teaspoon
  6. Mustard oil 2 teaspoon
  7. Lime juice 1 tablespoon
  8. For biriyani
  9. green cardamon 3
  10. black cardamom 1
  11. cinnamon stick 1 inch
  12. clove 4-5
  13. star anise 1
  14. black Stone flower 2
  15. bay leaves 1
  16. cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  17. Onion 1 medium sized, sliced
  18. Ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon
  19. Green chillies 2-3
  20. Tomatoes 2 medium sized, chopped
  21. coriander powder 1 tablespoon
  22. cumin powder 1 teaspoon
  23. biriyani masala 2 teaspoon
  24. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  25. Salt to taste
  26. Sugar to taste
  27. Vegetable oil
  28. Coriander leaves 2 tablespoon, chopped

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish with turmeric powder, red chilly powder, Salt, mustard oil and lime juice for 1 hour.
  2. Fry the fishes lightly from both sides for about 2-3 minutes and keep aside.
  3. Heat a thick bottom pan add vegetable oil. Throw in whole spices-green cardamon, black cardamom, cinnamon stick, clove, star anise, black Stone flower, bay leaves and cumin seeds.
  4. Add sliced onions, saute till transluscent. Add ginger garlic paste and green chillies followed by chopped tomatoes.
  5. Add the dry masalas-turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, biriyani masala and salt. Cook and stir till oil starts separating from the sides.
  6. Add the rice, fry it well with the masalas for 5 minutes.
  7. Add 3 cups of water, salt as required and mix well.
  8. Cover it with a lid until partially cooked. Add the fish pieces, cover with it with the rice. Cover with lid and cook in low flame until done.
  9. Keep it covered for 10 minutes. Open the lid garnish with some chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with raita.
