ABOUT Fish Biryani RECIPE

This fish Biryani cooked in Dum method with aromatic spices with basmati rice using Salmon fish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. To marinade:
  2. Fish - 4 Medium Sized pieces
  3. Ginger garlic paste- 1 tbsp
  4. Chili powder - 2 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  6. salt - 1 tsp
  7. Biryani Masala- 1 Tbsp
  8. To Cook Biryani:
  9. Basmati rice - 2 cups
  10. Bayleaf - 2
  11. Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp
  12. Cloves - 2
  13. Cardamom - 2
  14. Cinnamon Stick - 2”
  15. Mint leaves - 1/2 bunch
  16. Green chili - 4
  17. Oil - 1/4 cup
  18. Biryani Masala - 1 1/2 Tbsp
  19. Fried onions - 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Cut the fish in big chunk pieces. Clean the fish in water thoroughly. Im using salmon fish for doing biryani.You can use sheerfish also.
  2. Soak the basmathi rice in water before half hour of starting the cooking.
  3. Marinate the fish using the ingredients in the marination list and mix well keep aside for half hour.
  4. Take a pan heavy bottomed or non stick pan is best to shallow cooking the fish.Pour some oil let it heat keep the fish pieces one by one.
  5. After 2 minutes turn into other side and cook for 2 minutes then take the fish out and keep aside.
  6. In the same pan add the chopped mint leaves,curd,biryani masala,slit green chilly,fried onions and saute well.Keep the half masala in kadai and take the half masala and keep aside.
  7. Cook the rice separately, take a vessel add water(based for open cooking) in the vessel and cardamom, salt,cinnamon stick, cumin seeds,bayleaf l,1Tsp of oil let it boil.
  8. Add the rice let it cook ,after 80% rice cooked , drain the water completely and keep aside.
  9. In the masala pan add the little bit rice cooked water. Let it boil. Add the rice on top and then fish and half separated masala. Keep a dosa pan under the heavy bottomed pan. Close with a lid.
  10. Cook in medium flame for 10 mintues.Open the lid after 5 mintues.
  11. Fish biryani is ready to serve eat with onion raitha.
