Mutton kola Urundai is a famous dish in Madurai,Tamil Nadu. Minced mutton is used in this recipe to make the balls. Adding spices and coconut will give the delicious and crispy Mutton meat ball. It can be serve as a appetizer or snack.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Mutton ( minced meat ) -250 gram
  2. onion -1 chopped
  3. Roasted gram dal flour-1/4 cup
  4. coconut-4 tablespoon
  5. ginger garlic paste-1 tablespoon
  6. fennel seeds-1 tablespoon
  7. cumin seed-1/2 table spoon
  8. pepper corn -1/2 tablespoon
  9. red chili-2
  10. cinnamon-1 small piece
  11. cardamom-2
  12. clove-3
  13. Turmeric powder-1/2 tablespoon
  14. Red chili powder-1 tablespoon
  15. coriander leaves- some chopped
  16. mint leaves-few
  17. curry leaves- 1 string
  18. salt - required amount
  19. oil -for frying

Instructions

  1. ingredients
  2. First wash the minced meat and put it in to pan and add 1/2 tablespoon Turmeric powder, 1 tablespoon of Red chili powder, some salt and add 1/4 cup of water.
  3. Cook the meat for for 10 minutes.once meat cooked well let it it cool down for sometime.
  4. Now grind cinnamon,clove,cardamom,fennel seeds, cumin seeds,pepper and coconut add some water and make a fine paste.
  5. Now run the cooked minced meat in a mixie, pulse for just couple of times .
  6. Take a fried gram dal in a mixie and make it into the fine powder
  7. Now add the mince meat , ground masala , fried gram dal powder, chopped onion, curry leaves, chopped coriander, mint leaves and salt mix them well to form a soft dough.
  8. Now the dough is ready to make meat balls.
  9. Now make the small balls with the dough.
  10. Heat oil in a pan in medium flame, once oil is hot fry the balls in a low medium flame until golden brown.
  11. when the kolas are cooked well remove from the oil and drain on paper towel.
  12. Now the delicious and crispy Minced meat balls / kola Urundai are ready to serve.
