Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Minced meat 300 gms
  2. Onions 3
  3. Tomato 1
  4. Grated coconut 1 cup
  5. Green chillies 4
  6. Ginger 1 inch
  7. Garlic 5 pods
  8. Cloves 3
  9. Cinnamon 1 inch
  10. Fennel seeds 1 teaspoon
  11. Fried gram dal 1/2 cup
  12. Cashews 5
  13. Curry leaves few
  14. Coriander leaves 1 fistful
  15. Egg 1
  16. Oil for frying
  17. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  18. Coriander powder 1 tablespoon
  19. Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  20. Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
  21. Salt accordingly

Instructions

  1. In a kadai add onions, ginger, garlic, green chillies, cinnamon, cloves, fennel seeds ,grated coconut,salt and saute well.
  2. Add the minced meat and stir well. Once water dries up add fried gram and stir well
  3. Once cooled,grind to a thick paste for vada batter consistency. Add 1 egg and mix well
  4. Make lemon sized balls. Deep fry till golden in low flame and keep aside. The balls itself can be had as a snack. They are called as kola urundai.
  5. Chop 2 onions and tomato finely. In a kadai add the chopped onion and tomato and all the masala powders and saute well till they turn mushy
  6. Now add paste of coconut and cashews,salt and add adequate water for a thin gravy.
  7. Now add the fried meat balls/kola urundais.they swell up and the gravy thickens.
  8. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves. Serve hot with steamed rice.
