Modern way of preparing our traditional snack samosa

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 cup maida
  2. 1/4 cup rava
  3. 1/4 tsp ajwain
  4. 1/2 tsp sugar
  5. 2 tbsp ghee
  6. 2 tsp oil (for dough)
  7. 1/2 tsp salt(for dough)
  8. 1/4 cup water to knead(for dough)
  9. 2 onion, finely chopped
  10. 1 sprig curry leaves, chopped
  11. 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  12. 1/4 tbsp turmeric powder
  13. 1 tsp red chilly powder
  14. 1/2 tbsp garam masala
  15. 1 tbsp sweet chilly sauce
  16. 2 boiled potatoes
  17. Salt (for filling)
  18. 2 tbsp maida dissolved in 1/4 cup water
  19. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough using maida, rava, ajwain, sugar, salt, ghee and water
  2. Cover with moist cloth and rest for 20 min
  3. Saute onion, curry leaf, ginger garlic paste, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, sauce and salt
  4. Once done, add mashed potato, mix well and set aside
  5. dust the dough with maida and roll the dough with rolling pin.
  6. now spread prepared aloo stuffing uniformly.
  7. roll tight making sure the stuffing is intact.
  8. cut the roll to half inch slice and flatten slightly.
  9. dip the pinwheel samosa into maida paste and coat both sides
  10. Shallow fry immediately into hot oil. alternatively, bake in preheated oven at 180 degree celsius for 15-20 minutes or till it turns golden brown.
  11. Serve hot with sauce
