ABOUT Aloo Matar (Potato and Peas vegetable) RECIPE

Potatoes and peas cooked together with a hint of coconut to make a flavourful dish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 250 gms shelled green peas
  2. 2 - 3 medium sized potatoes (cut into small cubes)
  3. 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  4. 1 medium tomato (finely chopped)
  5. 1 Green chilli (finely Chopped)
  6. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  7. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  8. 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  9. 1 cup finely grated coconut
  10. 4 tbsp oil
  11. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil and add green chilli. Add onion and saute till soft. Add tomatoes and saute till they are soft.
  2. Add the turmeric powder, garam masala powder, ginger garlic paste and salt. Saute well.
  3. Next add the green peas, potatoes and coconut. Add about 1 and 1/2 cup water. Cover and cook till done on slow fire.
  4. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with rotis or phulkas.
