This is delicious mouthwatering curry prepared in Udipi style. Enjoy the delicious curry with rice or roti
Soak tamarind in warm water. Pressure cook dal and chana until tender. Keep it aside
Peel and cut banana in cubes. Keep it soaked in water to avoid discoloration
In a pan, heat oil and saute all ingredients mentioned under grinding section until spices are roasted well and coconut is brown. Allow it cool. Add little water and grind it to paste
In a separate vessel, add water sufficient enough to cook banana, add banana (discard water it was kept in) and turmeric mix well. Now extract tamarind pulp and add to banana. Cook until banana is tender. Add ground paste, dal , chana, jaggery and salt. Mix well
Cover and cook for another 7-8 minutes. Meanwhile heat oil , add mustard seeds, allow it to splutter, add urad dal, allow it to brown. Now add curry leaves. Switch off. Add the seasoning to the curry. Mix well. Serve hot with rice or roti
