ABOUT Stuffed mussels RECIPE

Mussels is a popular seafood in Malabar regions of Kerala. Mussels stuffed with rice flour and coconut paste , steamed and then fried is one very tasty malabar snack. This snack brings comfort like nothing else on earth.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Mussels - 10
  2. Rice flour- 1 Cup
  3. Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
  4. Onion chopped - 1
  5. Green chilly chopped - 2
  6. Chopped ginger - 1 teaspoon
  7. Fennel seed. - 1 teaspoon
  8. Water - 1/2 glass
  9. Kashmiri chilly - 2 teaspoon
  10. Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  11. Oil for shallow frying
  12. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a grinder grind coconut onion green chilly ginger and fennel seeds by pouring water
  2. Then add the mixture to the rice powder and make a fine dough
  3. Wash the mussels in fresh water.
  4. With a knife open each mussel. Slowly wash the inner side of the mussel.
  5. Take a enough portion of dough and stuff each mussels.
  6. Steam the stuffed mussels in a steamer till it is done
  7. Cool it and remove the shells.
  8. Take a bowl. Make a paste with chilly powder and cumin powder by adding little water
  9. Marinate stuffed mussels in the paste and shallow fry in an oil.
  10. Stuffed mussels are ready to serve with tea.
