ABOUT Broken Wheat Instant Idli RECIPE

An instant idli recipe prepared with broken wheat. A good start of the day with healthy breakfast. It is quick and easy to prepare and doesn't require fermentation for this recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 1 cup Broken Wheat
  2. ½ cup hung curd
  3. ½-1 cup water as required
  4. Salt to taste
  5. ¼ tsp Baking Soda
  6. 2 tbsps coriander leaves finely chopped
  7. Oil or ghee to grease idli plate
  8. For Tempering: 1 tsp oil
  9. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  10. 1 tbsp Urad dal
  11. A pinch asafoetida
  12. 1 green chilly finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Take broken wheat in a blender and run it once or twice till it is a little fine.
  2. Take that in a bowl, add curd, salt, water, coriander leaves and mix well.
  3. Now make tempering by heating oil and add all the ingredients given in the list and let it sizzle for a min.
  4. Pour the tempering over the idli batter and mix well. Add in some more water and mix well till it is correct consistency. Now add in the baking soda and mix.
  5. Grease the idli plates with oil or ghee.
  6. Scoop the idli batter in the greased idli plate, dont over fill it. Steam it for 10-12 mins on medium heat.
  7. Remove it and let it cool for 5 mins. Now dip a spoon in some water and release the idlies.
  8. Serve with any chutney or sambar or dal.
