ABOUT Broken wheat apple halwa RECIPE

I learnt broken wheat halwa from my mom and made a modifocation by adding apple puree. I did it to make my kid to have fruits. It came out very well. So u all give it a try and let me know how it turns out for you.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Broken wheat : 1|4 cup
  2. Apple: one medium size
  3. Jaggery powdered: 4tablespoon
  4. Ghee: 3 tsp
  5. Cashew and badam: 6 pieces each
  6. Cardamom: 1
  7. Water: 1|4 cup for making jaggery syrup
  8. Water: 1.5 cup for cooking broken wheat

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the apple, grind it in to smooth paste.
  2. Add jaggery and 1/4 cup of water in a pan and melt it in the stove. Then filter the syrup and keep aside.
  3. Heat a frying pan, add two tsp of ghee. First fry chopped cashews and almonds then remove it to plate.
  4. Next add broken wheat to the remaining ghee in the frying pan and roast it till nice aroma comes.
  5. Then add 1.5 cups of water and a pinch of salt and cover it and cook in medium flame for 6 to 8 mins.
  6. Once it is cooked well add apple puree and mix well. Then add jaggery syrup and mix well. Cook until it gets thicker.
  7. Finally add fried cashews and almonds.
  8. Add another tsp ghee to the halwa and mix well. Once the halwa becomes nonsticky to the frying pan, switch off the flame.
  9. Yummy and healthy broken wheat apple halwa is ready to serve.
