Healthy and tasty payasam for kids. This is also served as prasad in some temples during Navratri in our place.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Broken wheat - 1 cup
  2. Jaggery pieces - 6
  3. Coconut milk - 2 cups
  4. Cornflour - 1 tbsp
  5. Elaichi powder - 1 tsp
  6. Dry fruits - a handful
  7. Ghee - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash and pressure cook broken wheat for 5 minutes after 2 whistles.
  2. Take a vessel. Add jaggery.
  3. Add water just enough to cover the jaggery and keep it to melt over a low flame.
  4. Once the jaggery is completely melted, switch off the flame and let the jaggery cool.
  5. Once cooled, sieve it to remove any impurities.
  6. Transfer jaggery to the vessel containing boiled broken wheat and turn on the flame.
  7. Add coconut milk and mix well.
  8. Add cornflour mixed in little water to make a lump free paste for thickness.
  9. Garnish with dry fruits fried in ghee and elaichi powder.
