Restaurant-style dal tadka, to be served with some roti or jeera rice on the side.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup split moong dal soaked
  2. 1 sliced onion
  3. 2 chopped tomatoes
  4. 2 green chillies chopped
  5. 5 cloves garlic
  6. Some coriander leaves
  7. Turmeric 1 tsp
  8. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  9. Salt to taste
  10. For tadka
  11. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  12. A pinch hing
  13. 2 dried red chillies
  14. 1 chopped onion
  15. 5 cloves garlic chopped
  16. 1 tsp kasturi methi

Instructions

  1. Put soaked dal and ingredients mentioned under dal in a cooker.
  2. Add 2 cups of water. Cook for 4 whistles.
  3. Mash the dal. Add some water if needed and cook till the desired consistency is reached.
  4. Transfer into a serving bowl.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and prepare the tadka. Pour this over the Dal.
  6. Serve hot.
