Tempered with chopped garlic and cumin seeds

Wash and rinse Toor dal. Pressure cook for 4 to 5 whistles.let it cool and mashes it well.
Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds let it crack.
Then add curry leaves, onion and garlic.Saute and add tomatoes.
Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilly powder and coriander leaves.Put this mixture into above cooked and mix well.Let it be in low flame.
For tempering:
Heat oil, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, red chilly powder, red chillies and chopped garlic and pour in above dal. Serve hot.
SERVING: 3
