ABOUT Akki Roti RECIPE

Akki roti is made of rice flour. It is traditional dish in karnataka. People make it as ti their wish, like few add veggies/only onions/ or a tyops of green called sabbasigae. I learnt this recipe from my neighbour.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Rice flour 1 cup
  2. Salt to taste
  3. Oil to spoon around
  4. Jeera 1 teaspoon
  5. Green chilli 2 finely chopped
  6. Carrot 1 grated
  7. Onion 1 finely chopped
  8. Capsicum finely chopped 2 tablespoon
  9. Warm water 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl. Add rice flour, Salt, jeera and mix well
  2. To the flour add the vegetables one by one simultaneously mixing it.
  3. After adding all the vegetables, start adding warm water little by little to make a smooth pilable dough.
  4. Cover the bowl and rest the dough for 30 minutes.
  5. After 30 minutes, gently knead the dough.
  6. Take a small portion of the dough and make balls of it.
  7. Take a banana leaf and apply oil on it.
  8. Take a ball made and keep it on the banana leaf.
  9. Start pressing and spreading it with your hand as it forms the round shape like chapathi.
  10. Now transfer it to the hot tawa and spoon around the oil. Cook on low flame.
  11. Wait for few minutes and flip it to other side and cook for another few minutes.
  12. Serve hot.

Turned out thicker than what I desired as I made them out of coarsely ground unpolished red matta rice as there was no rice flour at home. But taste was still good. Next time will use rice flour to improve appearance!
