Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cups Thick Poha
  2. 1/2 cup Fresh Peas
  3. 1 small Chopped Onion, 1 small Chopped Green Chilie
  4. 1/2 cup Chopped potatoes
  5. 1/2 tablespoon Grated ginger
  6. 2 tablespoon Oil
  7. 6-8 pieces of Curry leaves
  8. A pinch of Hing/ Asafoetida
  9. 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  10. 1/4 teaspoon Haldi (Turmeric powder)
  11. 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice - to sprinkle on top
  12. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash it under cold water. Rub some poha grains in your fingers and if it breaks easily means it's ready for cooking.
  2. Set it aside until all the water has drained out.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add curry eaves, hing, black peppercorns and mustard seeds. As they start to sputter mix in chopped onion and grated ginger.
  4. Mix and cook until onions are translucent. Mix in peas and any other vegetable you choose to add. Cook for 1-2 minute on medium flame. Mix all the spices and salt. Mix it well.
  5. Add poha and mix until well blended.
  6. Just before serving add lemon juice and serve hot.
  7. Enjoy with a cup of hot tea.
