ABOUT Ragi Idlis RECIPE

Soft fluffy idlis prepared from our own humble Nachni or Ragi flour which is very rich in calcium and iron which is good for growing baby, pregnant lady and eldery persons too . Regular intake of Ragi in any form helps strengthen bones and increses haemoglobin levels in blood

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Ragi flour 2 cups
  2. Semolina / Suji 1/2 cup
  3. Green chilly and ginger paste 1 to 2 teaspoon
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Butter milk 2 cups approximately
  6. Oil 2 teaspoon
  7. Baking soda or Eno 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl take ragi flour , suji, salt, oil and butter milk
  2. Mix well in to a thick batter and keep aside covered for 10 to 15 minutes
  3. By the time , suji will soak up butter milk
  4. Mix again , add Soda or Eno and mix vigorously in one direction
  5. Add some more butter milk if required
  6. Grease idli mould and fill it with ready batter
  7. Preheat microwave and steam idlis as usual approximately for 8 to 10 minutes on highest temperature
  8. Soft healthy Ragi idlis are ready to serve with green chutney or coconut chutney
