ABOUT Sprouted Moong Daal Chaat RECIPE

Whole green mung daal sprouts are the most common sprouts in India. They are one of the best protein sources for vegetarians. In fact all bean sprouts are more healthy than dry beans. Sprouting results in a lot of nutritional improvement — higher proteins, fibre, amino-acids, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. Raw or cooked, it is a great idea to include them in your diet, especially if you are vegetarian and looking for plant-based protein sources. Best for kids, pragnent lady and elders..

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 cup Moong Daal sprouted (green)
  2. 1 onion chopped
  3. 2-3 green chillies chopped
  4. 2 small cucumbers, cubed
  5. 1 small red and green bell peppers, cubed
  6. salt to taste
  7. 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  8. 3/4 tsp chaat masala
  9. lemon/lime juice, per your taste

Instructions

  1. Soak the daal for almost a day then put the dal in muslin cloth for a couple of days. Make sure you sprinkle water at least 2-3 times in a day to keep them moist. You will see the sprout coming. Wash them before mixing anything.
  2. This time I used them without steaming. You can steam it in the microwave with a little bit of water and salt for 5 mins. If steamed, let it cool down and then add chopped onions, cilantro, green chillies, cubed cucumbers. Add salt, red chilli powder, chaat masala, lemon or lime juice.
  3. Mix everything well.
