ABOUT Methi paak(Fenugreek squares) RECIPE

This is a winter special recipe made with Fenugreek seeds as its main ingredient as it is very good for joint pains and backache.Specially every female should eat a piece of this methi paak in morning during winters.Even post pregnancy methi paak is given to new mother as it is very beneficial for skin, hair as well as health.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Coarse wheat flour-200 gms
  2. Fenugreek seeds-100 gm
  3. Jaggery-250 gms
  4. Ghee-300 gms
  5. Dry ginger powder (sonth)-1 tbsp
  6. Pipramul/Ganthoda-1 tbsp
  7. Cardamom powder-1 tsp
  8. Dessicated coconut-1/4 cup
  9. Khaskhas-1/2 tbsp
  10. Dry fruits-1/4 cup
  11. Edible gum/gundar-1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients.
  2. Grind methi seeds into fine powder.
  3. Crush edible gum in a mortar pestle.
  4. Crush almonds and cashews also in mortar pestle.
  5. Take a thick bottomed pan.Add ghee.
  6. Add coarse wheat flour when ghee heats up.
  7. Keep stiring on medium low flame till you get a nice aroma of roasted flour and colour changes.
  8. Add crushed gum and dessicated coconut.The flour mix will start crackling when you add gum.The gum crystals will swell.
  9. Add the spices.Also add the dry fruits.
  10. Mix and saute.Now switch off the gas and add the fenugreek powder.
  11. Mix and add the jaggery.
  12. Mix everything nicely.The jaggery melts from the heat of pan and the flour mix.
  13. Pour in a greased thali and level with a spatula.
  14. After 5 minutes cut with knife into square pieces.
  15. When it cools down completely,cut each piece and store in an air tight container.
