Kumro Patay Bhatki vapa is one of the signature fish dish in my house . Bhetki Maach along with a paste of Mustard seeds paste and coconut wraped in Yummy Pumkin leaves and cook in slow flame and the end result is melting in mouth ..........

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Bhetki fish - 500 gm ( cut into pieces)
  2. Pumpkin leaves - 7 - 8
  3. Black mustard seeds - 2 tablespoons
  4. White mustard seeds - 1 tablespoon
  5. Grated coconut paste - 5 tablespoons
  6. Green chili - 6 - 8
  7. Mustard oil - 4 tablespoons
  8. Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  11. Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  12. Tooth pick or Thread as required to seal leaves

Instructions

  1. Marinate bhetki with lemon juice and 1 teaspoon salt for 10 minutes .
  2. Grind mustard seeds , green chilies and little salt to form smooth thick paste
  3. In a bowl ,add mustard paste , coconut paste , salt , sugar , turmeric powder and mustard oil and mix well
  4. Marinate the fish with the paste for 10 minutes .
  5. Now brush little mustard oil on the pumpkin leaves and place 1 tsp of the marinade on the middle of the leaf and then place a fish chunk on the top of the marinade and finally add some marinade to cover the fish from the top .
  6. Fold the Pumkin leaf from sides to make a close parcel and seal it using a tooth pick .
  7. Grease a flat pan and place fish parcel over the oil and cover the pan with a lid and cook over low flame for 10 minutes .
  8. Flip all the fish pieces after 10 minutes. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  9. Take out the cooked fish pieces and serve hot with steamed rice .
