ABOUT Spinach Garlic Dal RECIPE

Its a daal fry liked by many peoples....it taste awesome with green garlic and spinach.its nutritional value is too good as tur daal or pigeon pea is rich in proteins and spinach and green garlic is rich in plant fibres.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1/2 cup Toor Dal
  2. Water 1.5 cups
  3. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  4. Tomato 1 chopped
  5. Green chili 4
  6. Onion 1 chopped
  7. Spinach 1 cup washed and chopped
  8. Oil 2 tbsp
  9. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  10. Asafoetida a pinch
  11. Salt as per taste
  12. 3 tbsp Coriander leaves for garnishing
  13. Red chili powder 1 tsp
  14. Green garlic 7-8 chopped

Instructions

  1. Wash dal and soak for 15 minutes
  2. In pressure cooker, add dal,water,turmeric powder,onion,tomatoes,spinach and green chili. Pressure cook for 1 whistle and cook over low heat for 8 minutes. Switch off
  3. Add salt and mash dal with blender
  4. Add sufficient water and boil it.
  5. Heat oil in a pan
  6. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, ginger paste and stir for 2-3 minutes
  7. Add green garlic and saute for 2-3 miutes
  8. Then add chili powder. Mix well. Add seasoning to dal and mix
  9. Boil dal over low heat for 3 minutes
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot
