Momos are all time family favorite. A healthy twist to regular momos. Definitely a try -Yummy healthy and delicious momos with spicy momo chutney.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Momo dough
  2. 1 cup all purpose flour
  3. 2 cups cleaned spinach leaves
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Water as required
  6. 2 tsp oil
  7. For Momo Chutney
  8. 2 medium tomatoes
  9. 1 tsp soy sauce
  10. 5-6 dry red chilies
  11. 1 tsp vinegar
  12. 1 tsp Sugar
  13. 1 garlic clove
  14. 1 inch ginger
  15. Blanched Almonds (3-4) (optional)
  16. Salt to taste
  17. For Momo Stuffing: 1 cup shredded cabbage
  18. 1/2 capsicum thinly chopped
  19. 1/2 cup mushroom thinly diced
  20. 1/4 cup tofu or carrots thinly sliced
  21. 3-4 Spring onions thinly diced
  22. 1tbsp ginger garlic paste
  23. 1 tbsp soy sauce
  24. 1/4 tsp vinegar
  25. 2 tbsp oil
  26. Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Blanch Spinach leaves and puree it. Make a stiff dough with flour, spinach puree, salt and water as required. Knead with oil. Cover it with damp cloth and keep it aside
  2. Boil Tomatoes and dry red chilies with 1.5 cups water until tomato skin starts to peel. Drain water and Allow it to come to room temperature. Peel off tomato skin.
  3. Grind well tomatoes with dry red chilies and rest of the ingredients mentioned under chutney list. Momo chutney is ready.
  4. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, add ginger garlic paste and saute it until raw aroma goes away. Add all the veggies mentioned under Momo stuffing. Mix it well, cover and cook it for 6-7 minutes until tender. Add soy sauce, vinegar, salt and pepper and mix it well. The stuffing is ready.
  5. Now make medium sized puris, it should be thin. Slightly thick at centre but thin at edges. Take a small amount of filling, place it in centre. Pinch sides from one side, raise front part up with right thumb. make 1-2 creases with right index on back part. Shift thumb a little raise the front again, make creases on back part with right index. Keep pushing the stuffing with left thumb. Now continue and finally seal it completely. This is half moon shaped momos.
  6. Boil water in Idli/Rice cooker. Place momos in greased pan. Steam for 10 minutes on medium flame. Serve hot with momo chutney
