This is a Eastern indian recipe.. taro or arbi is very common food in every bangal's kitchen.. though i am a authentic bangal, i just love taro recipes..

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Taro stems 500 grm
  2. Shrimp 1 cup
  3. Chopped Onion 1 medium
  4. Chopped garlic 4-5 cloves
  5. Bengali five spice mix 1 tsp
  6. Bay leaf 2 no
  7. Green chili 5-6
  8. Salt and sugar as per taste
  9. Mustard Oil 2 tbsp
  10. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  11. Garam masala powder 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. In a pan add chopped taro stems, salt and a pinch of turmeric powder. Boil it for 10 mins.
  2. Separate the excess water from it and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add shrimps and a little salt and turmeric powder. Fry a little and set aside.
  4. Heat oil. Add Bengali five spice mix and bay leaf to it.
  5. Add chopped onion, chopped garlic, green chillies, salt and saute for 2 mins.
  6. Add boiled taro stems and turmeric powder to the pan and fry in a high flame.
  7. When it becomes dry and oil separates from it add fried shrimps to it and mix properly.
  8. Sprinkle some sugar and garam masala.. serve with plain rice.
