Beaten rice flakes tossed with the traditional tempering of mustard seeds, chillies and curry leaves,

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cups thick poha
  2. 2 tbsp oil
  3. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  4. 1/2 tspn cumin seeds
  5. 1/2 tsp hing
  6. 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  7. 1/2 cup peeled potato cubes
  8. Salt to taste
  9. 3/4 tsp turmeric powder
  10. 2 green chilli
  11. 1 tbsn sugar
  12. 2 tspn lemon juice
  13. Finely chopped Coriender
  14. Curry Leaves 3-4
  15. For The Garnish:
  16. Finely chopped coriander handful
  17. 2 tbsn Chopped onion
  18. Pomegranate arils as needed
  19. Mix namkin and sev as nedded

Instructions

  1. *Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan and add the mustard seeds. When the seeds crackle,cumin and the asafoetida and saute on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  2. Add the onions and saute on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes. Add the potatoes, salt and turmeric powder, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  3. Place the beaten rice in a sieve and hold it under running water for a few seconds. Toss well to drain out all excess water.
  4. Add the washed and drained beaten rice a little salt, sugar, lemon juice ,curry leaves and mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes,
  5. Add the coriander and mix well. Serve hot garnished with coriander chopped onions ,sev, Pomegranate arils, and mix namkin
