Mint flavoured Kodo Millet Idlis !!

ABOUT Mint flavoured Kodo Millet Idlis !! RECIPE

A very easy recipe that has many health benefits.... :blush:

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Kodo Millet - 1 big glass
  2. Whole Urad dal - 1/ 4 th glass
  3. Poha - preferably red(Beaten rice ).... (2 handfuls washed and soaked in a bowl 1/2 an hour just before grinding the millet & dal )
  4. Fenugreek /Methi seeds - 1 tspn
  5. water for cooking
  6. Salt to taste
  7. For the green paste
  8. Mint leaves - half cup washed well & kept aside.
  9. Green chilly - 1 ( adjust to taste )
  10. Ginger - small piece ( adjust to taste )

Instructions

  1. Take a big bowl and add the millet & dal in it.... wash them well... Then soak in water for about 5 to 6 hours....
  2. In the meantime take a mixer jar & grind the mint leaves, green chilly & ginger to a smooth paste. Once the dal & millets are soaked... grind them to a smooth paste... also grind the soaked poha with the dal & millet.
  3. Add salt to taste .... mix well.....then keep the batter for fermentation...
  4. After fermentation ....mix the batter well.... Add the green ground paste & give the batter a nice stir.... Keep the idli steamer or pressure cooker to heat ...pour water in it...
  5. Then grease the idli plates and pour the batter in each plate
  6. When done lift it carefully and put it in the steamer/ cooker for steaming for about 10 to 12 miutes....
  7. When it is cooked.... turn off the gas and later on let it cool down.... Then remove the idlis gently & serve hot with chutney or sambhar :relaxed: Enjoy the ....humble idlis .. ...:sparkling_heart::sparkling_heart::sparkling_heart:
