ABOUT Lime and Tangier roasted chickpeas RECIPE

An all time favourite snack in a healthier and Mediterranean avatar. Lime and Sprig's unique Tangier spice blend gives the chickpeas an awesome spicy tanginess. You will find it difficult to stop munching on these crunchies !

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 cup dried chickpeas or garbanzo beans or channa
  2. 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
  3. 2-3 teaspoons Tangier spice blend
  4. 1 teaspoon lime juice
  5. Salt to taste ( i used little more than 1/2 teaspoon)

Instructions

  1. Wash the chickpeas and soak in enough water for 6 to 8 hours
  2. Drain the soaking water and pressure cook in 2.5 cups of fresh water for 8 to 10 whistles over a slow flame. Drain and dry completely . Also , preheat your oven to 200 C or 400 F.
  3. Add olive oil to the chickpeas and mix well
  4. Add the lime juice , Tangier spice blend and salt. Mix well and taste to adjust salt and spices as required
  5. Spread the chickpeas on a rimmed baking sheet . You can line it with parchment or foil if you wish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes . The chickpeas will rustle when moved and will be totally roasted and crunchy
  7. Cool and store away in an airtight container. Or munch away !
