Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chana dal/Bengal gram - 2 cup
  2. Finely chopped bottle gourd - 250 gms
  3. Finely chopped onion - 2 medium size
  4. Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  6. Cumin seeds - a pinch
  7. Butter - 50 gms
  8. Milk - 1/4 cup
  9. Bay leaf - 1 - 2
  10. Finely chopped ginger - 1 tsp
  11. Garam masala powder - 1/4 tsp
  12. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  13. Asafoetida/hing - a pinch
  14. Salt - to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat butter in a pan.
  2. Add cumin seeds,asafoetida,ginger and bay leaf and fry it.
  3. Add onion and fry till light pink.
  4. Add turmeric powder,red chilly powder.ginger garlic paste,garam masala powder and 2 tbsp water.
  5. Add milk little by little and bottle gourd and mix well.
  6. Add chana dal/Bengal gram ,salt and bottle gourd in a pressure cooker
  7. Add one cup of water and pressure cook.
  8. After one whistle simmer the gas for 10 mins.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and butter.
