ABOUT Garlic Butter Naan ! Three ways ! RECIPE

Naan is the famous bread from northern India and Pakistan that is baked in a distinctive tandoor oven. Variations of naan are found from India to Central Asia on into the Middle East. The intense heat of a tandoor is most closely replicated in the modern home by a very hot oven or the easiest and most simplest,is to make on skillet. Naan bread is made in many variations from the stuffed rustic ones to delicious flavoured ones that includes ginger, garlic, coriander, fenugreek versions.These fluffy and soft naans that tastes like Indian restaurants goes well with any gravy or tandoor delicacies.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 3 cups : All purpose flour
  2. 1 tsp : Salt
  3. 2 tsp : sugar
  4. 2 tsp : Active dried yeast
  5. 1/2 cup : warm water
  6. 1 tsp : oil
  7. 1 cup : water or as needed for kneading
  8. 3 tbsp : Butter, melted
  9. 2 tbsp : Garlic grated
  10. 3 tbsp : Coriander chopped

Instructions

  1. For the garlic butter : Combine garlic, coriander leaves and melted butter in a small bowl and mix well. Set it aside.
  2. For the dough : In a small bowl add half cup of water that is just above the body temperature.To it add sugar and active dried yeast. Stir well and set covered for 10 minutes to proof and turn frothy.
  3. To a deep bowl add the flour,salt mix well. Next add the proofed yeast mixture and by adding water as needed knead it into a soft dough. Smear the dough with a teaspoon of oil and place in a greased bowl.
  4. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and place in a warm area , for the dough to double in volume.
  5. As doubled, knock out the air from the dough , knead a couple of times and divide into 16 equal portions.
  6. For the skillet / Tawa naan : Start heating a iron skillet on medium high.
  7. Roll out a dough portion into an oval dusting with flour,if needed. Brush one of its side with water and place the wet side over the skillet,so that it sticks to it.
  8. Cook it on medium high heat until bubbles/ big air pockets appear on the top.
  9. Once the naan starts bubbling flip the tawa over flame and cook for minute or two until golden spots appear.
  10. Once golden, remove and Brush Its top generously with garlic coriander butter.
  11. For The Oven Baked Naan : Set the oven to broil. Roll out a dough ball into an oval shape dusting with flour, if needed.
  12. Place rolled naan on a lined baking tray and place it in the top most rack/shelf of the oven and broil for 1-2 minutes. Flip it over and broil for 2 more minutes.
  13. As every oven is different observe for its golden colour and broil accordingly.
  14. Brush the cooked naan with garlic coriander butter. Serve hot from the oven.
  15. For the Naan in pressure cooker : Start by heating the pressure cooker on medium high heat. Roll out a dough into oval shape dusting with flour if needed.
  16. Brush one of its sides with water and place at the bottom or sides of the cooker with the wet side down.
  17. Cook on medium high heat until puffy and bubbly. Flip the cooker facing the open side towards the flame or heat.
  18. Cook until golden spots appears. Remove and brush generously with garlic butter.
  19. Fluffy,soft and restaurant like Garlic Naan in three different methods is ready to enjoy !
