Ingredients For bath powder ( home made)
Red chilly dry - 3
Cinnamon stick -1
Cloves - 2
Jeera - 1 tsp
urad dal - 1 tsp
Chana dal - 1 tsp
Methi seeds - 1/2 tsp
Coriander seeds - 1 tsp
Coconut powder - 1 tsp
Ingredients for bath:
Rice - 2 cups
Toor dal - 1/2 cup
Tamrind - 20 gm
Jaggery - 1-1/2 tsp
Common salt - according to taste
Green Peas - 1/4 cup
Capsicum - 1/4 cup (optional)
Carrots - diced -1/2 cup
Pure ghee - 2 tsp
Curry leaves - 10-15
Cashews - 10-15
Hing - 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Instructions
Preparation of bisi bela bath powder
Dry roast all the ingredients one after the another
Cool them and set aside
Make then a fine powder in mixer grinder
Wash and soak rice for 10 mins
Soak Tamrind in half cup of water.
Squeeze and filter it
Add bisi bela bath powder, jaggery, common salt to the Tamrind juice and mix well and set aside
Pressure cook rice - 7 mins
Pressure cook toor dal - 7 mins
Mash dal and add to cooked rice
Heat a pan with 1 tsp pure ghee
Add above mentioned vegetables and saute for 3-4 mins
Pour 1 cup water and cook till vegetables become tender
Pour Tamarind mixture and stir well, allow to boil for 3-4 mins
Add mashed dal and rice to above mixture.
Add 1 cup water and simmer it for 1-2 minutes
In a pan add 1 tsp pure ghee and heat.
Add mustard seeds, hing, chana and urad dal and allow to splutter.
Add dry red chilly and curry leaves and switch off gas flame
Pour this seasoning over bisi bela bath
Serve this with Papadam and rasam
