ABOUT Parippu Curry RECIPE

The simplest curry of Keralites to have for lunch .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup Masoor dal
  2. 4 Drumsticks or any vegetable (bottlegourd or whitegourd)
  3. 1 Raw mango
  4. 3 green chillies
  5. ĵ tsp Turmeric powder
  6. ½ tsp Chilly powder
  7. 1 ½ cup Coconut milk
  8. Water as required
  9. salt as per taste
  10. For Tempering:
  11. oil
  12. Mustard seeds
  13. 2 Red whole chillies
  14. curry leaves

Instructions

  1. Cook dal with sufficient water. Cut the drumsticks into 3” pieces and mangoes into medium slices. When the dal is cooked and the drumsticks, mangoes, split green chillies, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt.
  2. Add little water and mix well and cook. When the mangoes and drumsticks are done, add the coconut milk and just boil. Turn off the flame.
  3. Heat another pan, heat oil add the mustard seeds when it splutters put the whole chillies and curry leaves.
  4. Add this over the parippu curry. Serve hot with plain rice.
