ABOUT Sooji besan dokala RECIPE

Dhokla has become such a famous dish in every household so this is an easy recipe to make a dhokla with semolina incorporated in it.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 150 gms sooji [semolina]
  2. 100 gms besan flour
  3. 1 teaspoonful sugar
  4. Salt as required
  5. 150 GMS SOUR CURD
  6. One eno pouch of green color
  7. For tempering
  8. 2 tablespoons oil for tempering
  9. Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  11. Fresh coriander chopped half teaspoon
  12. Curry leaves 4/5

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix sooji besan(gram flour) , oil 1 teaspoonful sugar, salt as required, curd and mix nicely
  2. Adjust the consistency by adding little bit of water
  3. Taste the batter and adjust the salt accordingly.
  4. Take a double boiler and grease the tin with oil
  5. Be ready to cook it on double boiler like we do for idli or doklas lastly before pouring the batter in mold add in eno pouch and mix it nicely pour the batter immediately in mold and cook on medium flame for 10 to 15 min
  6. Cover and cook, check it by putting knife if it comes clean, you can take the mould out.
  7. While the dhokla is getting cooled, prepare the tempering.
  8. Heat oil, add in mustard seeds, cumin and when they crackle add in curry leaves
  9. Spread chopped coriander leaves on the dhokla and put the tempering as well.
  10. You can also add sesame seeds, to enhance the flavour.
  11. Cut in desired shapes ad serve with tomato ketchup or tamarind chutny
