Godhuma payasam is an authentic sweet dish made in Telangana households during savan mausam (monsoons) as an an offering to Goddess Parvati. Subtle in taste, filling and nutritious dessert that none of them regrets in making once they taste it.
I will surely try this.
In a pressure pan add a tablespoon of ghee. Once melted, add the rava, dal and roast on medium heat until aromatic.
Add a pinch of salt and water. Cook for 3 whistles on medium heat.
Cool and let the pressure release by itself.
Later open the lid give it a stir and add powdered jaggery, dessicated coconut and milk.
Stir well and loosely cover with a lid, cook further for 10 to 15 mins until thick and velvety.
Now add the cardamom powder and mix. Close and set aside.
In another small sauce pan add the remaining tablespoons of ghee and roast the nuts of choice to golden. Here I used raisins and cashews.
Add the ghee roasted nuts to the payasam and serve at room temperature.
Authentic Godhuma Pesarapappu Payasam is ready to indulge .
