ABOUT Leche Frita ! RECIPE

Leche frita literally meaning fried milk is a Spanish dessert with a delicate flavor of nutmeg,it's crispy on the outside, smooth and custardy on the inside.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 3 cups : whole milk
  2. 1/2 cup : corn starch
  3. 1/2 cup : Granulated sugar
  4. 1/4 tsp : Nutmeg
  5. 1 tbsp : Butter
  6. 1/4 tsp : grated lemon rind
  7. 2 nos : Eggs well beaten
  8. 3/4 cup : Bread crumbs
  9. 1/3 cup : Castor sugar
  10. 1 tsp : Cinnamon powder
  11. Vegetable oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Mix granulated sugar, nutmeg, cornstarch, milk in a deep pan.
  2. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until thick.
  3. Stir in the butter and grated lemon peel.
  4. Spread evenly in a square baking dish.
  5. Refrigerate for 3 hours to overnight .
  6. Cut the chilled custard into desired shapes using wet knife.
  7. Dip the wedges in beaten egg coat with bread crumbs and deep Fry in vegetable oil until golden.
  8. Drain them on paper towel.
  9. While still warm toss them in castor sugar cinnamon mix and serve.
  10. Crispy custardy fried milk with subtle cinnamon nutmeg flavors all ready to devour.
