ABOUT Mitha Anna RECIPE

My kids just love Mitha Anna. This Anna is referred to as Rice in English. This is loved by most of the people in Odisa. This is also known as mitha khichudi .It is one of the dish that is given to the Puri lord Jagannath as Prasad. It is among the 56 different prasads that is given to the Puri Jagannath as Prasad everyday. Hence this dish is cooked on special occasions for its complete fulfillment and enjoyment.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Shruti kolam rice 1 cup
  2. Moong dal 1/2 cup
  3. Greated Coconut 1/2 cup
  4. Ginger 1/2" greated
  5. Bay leaf 1 No
  6. Cashew nuts 10 nos
  7. Raisin 15 nos
  8. Sugar 3 tbs
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Ghee 3 tbs
  11. Star anise 1 no
  12. Clove 3 nos
  13. Cardamom 3 nos
  14. Turmeric powder 2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and dal discard the water and, add turmeric powder mix well and keep it aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Put ghee in a wok and fry bay leaf ,cardamom , star anise , clove , for 3 seconds , add cashew nuts, raisins , ginger , fry 30 seconds, immediately add rice dal mixture and stir it , fry this for 3 minutes.
  3. Then add coconut ,sugar , salt, fry it for another for 2 minutes .
  4. Then add 2 1/2 cups water to it and cover the lid .
  5. Cook it in low flame .
  6. Take out when cooked .
