In a bowl take gram flour, ad onions, salt, green chilies, carom seeds and mix. Add water slowly to make a lump free batter.
Heat oil in a deep pan. Add zeera, asafoetida, curry leaves and the prepares batter.
Keep stirring on low flame till it absorbs the extra water and looks like a semi soft dough. Add coriander and mint leaves. Turn off the gas. The pitla is ready.
To make chapti, take wheat flour salt in mixing bowl, add salt and kneed a dough with little warm water.
Take small portions of dough , make into a ball, dust with dry wheat flour and roll into a circular shape with rolling pin.
Heat a tawa and cook the chapatis from both sides.
Apply ghee and serve with pitla.
