These are Simple yet nutritious fritters. Green moong is packed with protein and low on carbs, it is one of the best vegetarian superfoods that provides a good source of protein as well.Thank you, Shaheen Ali, for this awesome recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 1 cup green moong dal
  2. 1 cup Green peas fresh or frozen
  3. 3 green chillies
  4. 1 Onion, chopped
  5. 2-1/2 tbsp gram flour
  6. 1 tbsp mint leaves
  7. 1 tsp garlic, minced
  8. 1/2tsp ginger, minced
  9. 2 tbsp coriander leaves chopped
  10. 1/2tsp cumin powder
  11. 1/2tsp Garam masala powder
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Cooking oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Firstly, soak the green moong dal in enough water for an hour.
  2. Thaw the peas and dry them on a paper towel.
  3. Drain the water from the dal add it to a blender jar along with green chillies and peas. Grind them into a coarse yet thick batter without adding any water.
  4. Transfer it to a large bowl and add mint, coriander, onions, cumin powder, garam masala powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, besan and mix well such that every ingredient incorporates well. Adjust salt as per taste and mix all nicely.
  5. Meanwhile, heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
  6. Wet your palms with water, scoop a spoon full of batter on to your palm and shape it to a round flat kebab.
  7. Slowly add it to the hot oil and fry on low to medium heat until golden on both sides.
  8. Similarly shape rest of the batter for kebabs and deep fry from both sides till brown in colour.
  9. Drain the fried kebabs to a paper towel.
  10. Serve them hot with tomato ketchup or green chutney.
  11. Yummy and nutritious kebabs for a cozy evening !
