ABOUT Dal Makhani RECIPE

Soaked whole urad dal and rajma cooked in rich onion and tomato gravy served with naan or rice

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Whole urad dal 1 cup
  2. Rajma 1 cup
  3. Onion 2
  4. Tomatoes 4 to 5
  5. Ginger garlic paste 2 teaspoon
  6. Bay leaf 1
  7. Jeera 2 teaspoons
  8. Kitchen king Masala 1 teaspoon
  9. Haldi powder 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Red chilly powder 1 teaspoon
  11. Coriander powder
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Oil 1 tablespoon
  14. butter 1 tablespoon
  15. Cream 2 teaspoons
  16. Black pepper crushed 1/2 teaspoons

Instructions

  1. Wash whole urad dal and Rajma
  2. Soak in sufficient water for over night or at least for 5 to 6 hours
  3. Add some salt,haldi powder and coriander powder to soaked Dal and rajma
  4. Now pressure cook for 5 to 6 whistles or till it becomes soft in texture
  5. Make paste of 1 onion and 3 tomatoes
  6. Finely chop 1 onion and 2 tomatoes
  7. Heat oil and butter together in a pan and add jeera
  8. Let jeera crackle and add finely chopped onion
  9. Sauté onion till golden brown
  10. Add Haldi, Mirchi and coriander powder... sauté for while and add onion and tomato paste
  11. Sauté the paste till oil separates
  12. Now add ginger garlic paste
  13. Now add cooked whole urad dal and rajma, mix well adjust the salt
  14. Add kitchen king masala and little water to adjust the consistency
  15. Cook covered on low heat for 5 to 10 minutes
  16. Dal Makhani is ready to serve
  17. Garnish with some chopped coriander and cream
