ABOUT Baked Masala Vadai RECIPE

This is a perfect guilt free snack as it is prepared using 6 varieties of protein rich ingredients and baked instead of frying.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 1/2 Cup Channa Dal
  2. 1/4 cup Toor dal
  3. 1/4 Cup Horse gram
  4. 1/4 Cup Green gram
  5. 1/4 Cup Black Chickpeas
  6. 1/4 Cup Lobia
  7. 1 big Onion, finely chopped
  8. 3 Green chillies, finely chopped
  9. 1 Green Chilli, finely chopped
  10. 1 inch Ginger piece
  11. Salt to taste
  12. 1 tsp Saunf
  13. 2 Tsp Olive Oil for brushing

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak channa dal along with Toor dal, horse gram, black chickpeas, green gram and Lobia for 4 - 5 hours.
  2. Drain the water and grind it coarsely along with green chillies and ginger.
  3. Transfer it to a bowl and add the finely chopped onion followed by salt, green chili and saunf.
  4. Mix well and make equal sized balls. ( approx 15 - 20 balls ).
  5. Take one ball and gently flatten it using palm. ( Vada should not be too thick or thin ).
  6. Repeat the process for the remaining balls.
  7. Place a baking sheet on a baking tray and arrange the vadas.
  8. Bake it for 12 minutes in a pre heated oven at 180 degree C.
  9. Flip the other side carefully and bake it for another 12 minutes.
  10. Once done, remove from the oven and brush it with a little oil on one side.
  11. Change the setting to grill mode and grill it for 3 - 4 minutes.
  12. Flip the other side, brush it again with little oil and grill it again for 3 - 4 minutes.
  13. Grill till the vada turn crispy and light brown color.
  14. Once done, remove from the oven and serve hot with Green chutney.
