ABOUT Channa Dal Sweet Idli RECIPE

My mother's one of the easiest snack recipes. My mum makes this idli with a mild sweetness that goes very well with a cup of tea.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Channa dal - 300gms
  2. Raw rice - 25 gms
  3. Jaggery - 200 gms
  4. Grated coconut - 1 cup or even more
  5. Cooking soda - 1/4 tsp
  6. Cardamom - 4 nos

Instructions

  1. Soak channa dal and rice in enough water for 8 hours.
  2. Grind soaked channa dal, rice to a coarse paste without adding water.
  3. Finally add jaggery, Elaichi to above mixture and grind once to mix well.
  4. Transfer it into a bowl and add coconut, cooking soda and mix well.
  5. The mixture will be in idli batter consistency, if not then add little water to bring to idli batter consistency.
  6. Pour into idli pan and steam cook till done.
  7. Serve hot.
