What is sponge gourd
Tasty dal dish!
Soak the daal for 30 minutes by washing twice and keep aside
Meantime cut the tomatoes and onions and peel off sponge gourd and cut it into desired size pieces and keep aside
After 30 minutes heat a pressure cooker and add oil in it
Add mustard seeds cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and onion and saute till onion become translucent
Add ginger chilli paste and garlic paste, red chilli powder and turmeric powder, then add tomatoes and cook till oil leaves
Add salt and garam masala and then sponge gourd
Mix it properly and then add soaked dal in it
Add water as we normally add in our regular dal (according to your choice of thickness)
Close the lid of cooker and cook upto 2 whistles
When pressure release naturally, open the lid serve hot with rice and pulka
