It is a traditional Gujarati recipe with little variation to save time

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Gram flour (Besan) 1 and 1/2 cup (small cup)
  2. Clearified butter (Ghee) 1 cup
  3. Condensed milk 200 grams
  4. Cardamom powder 1/6 teaspoon
  5. Nutmeg powder 1/6 teaspoon
  6. Pistachios and almonds chopped
  7. Milk half cup + 2 tablespoons
  8. Saffron strands few soaked in 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Add 2 tablespoons milk in gram flour and rub it with palm till it looks like crumbs.
  2. Keep it covered for few minutes
  3. Now sieve it so that there are no hard crumbs
  4. If any hard crumb are found, grind it in mixer and sieve again
  5. Heat clarified butter in a heavy bottom pan
  6. Add gram flour and roast on low medium flame for about 15 minutes
  7. Add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder
  8. Add condensed milk with continuous stirring on low heat
  9. Add milk in which we have soaked saffron strands
  10. Mix and stir continuously till mixture thickens and looks like a dough
  11. Now transfer it into a greased the tray and flatten it
  12. Sprinkle Almonds and pistachio flakes and press them gently
  13. Cut into the desired shape
  14. Serve
