Besan Chikki is a very popular Indian dessert usually made during festivals

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 250 grams gram flour
  2. 250 grams Sugar
  3. 250 grams fresh khoya
  4. 250 grams ghee
  5. 1/2 cup water
  6. 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  7. 1/4 cup chopped almonds for garnishing
  8. For sugar syrup -
  9. 1 cup sugar
  10. 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Take gram flour in a bowl add half of ghee and water into it and press with your hands and leave it to set for 15 minutes
  2. Meanwhile make one string sugar syrup and add cardamom powder into it and keep aside
  3. Now in a heavy bottom pan add remaining ghee and besan which we set earlier
  4. Roast the besan till light brown colour and at this stage add khoya into it
  5. Cook with khoya till besan and khoya mix together and give golden brown colour
  6. Switch off the flame and let it cool for 5 minutes
  7. Now add sugar syrup into it and mix well
  8. Set in a tray, sprinkle almonds and cut into desired shape
  9. Store in an airtight container
