Dal bati and churma is traditional taste of rajastha,the best thing of my batis is that I cooked batis in appe pan this is very easy and time saving recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. For batis:
  2. 1. Wheat flour 1 cup.
  3. 2. 1/4 cup semolina.
  4. 3. 4 tablespoon melted ghee.
  5. 4. Ajwain 1/4 tea spoon.
  6. 5. Salt as per your taste.
  7. For Dal:
  8. 1. Tuar dal, dhuli moong dal, dhuli urad dal, chana dal, masoor dal ( mixture) 1 cup
  9. 2. Ginger garlic paste 1 table spoon
  10. 3. 2 medium sized tomatoes chopped
  11. 4.green chilles 2-3
  12. 5. Turmeric powder 1/2 tea spoon.
  13. 6. red chilly powder 1/2 tea spoon
  14. 7.. garam masala powder 1/4 tea spoon.
  15. 8. Lemon juice
  16. 9. Salt
  17. 10. Oil or ghee.
  18. For Tadka:
  19. 1. 2-3 tablespoon ghee
  20. 2. Cumin seeds .
  21. 3 heeng 1/4 tea spoon
  22. 4. 4-5 dried whole red chilly.
  23. For Churma:
  24. 1. 1/2 cup wheat flour
  25. 2. 2 tablespoon semolina
  26. 3. Sugar or jaggery (powdered)3 table spoon
  27. 4. Chopped almonds
  28. 5. Ghee 2-4 tablespoon.

Instructions

  1. 1. Mix all ingredients of bati and knead a dough softer than Puri dough. Cover it and let it rest.
  2. 2.wash all the dals and pour it in a pressure cooker. Cook it with salt and 4 cups of water till 4-5 whistles.
  3. 3.heat a pan add 2 tablespoon ghee add ginger garlic paste and saute it.
  4. 4. Add chopped tomatoes.
  5. 5. add green chilly and cook it for 2-3 minutes.
  6. 6. add red chilly powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder.
  7. 7. Cook it for 2 minutes.
  8. 8. Add cooked dal.
  9. 9. Mix it well and cook it for 3-4 minutes.
  10. 10. Add lemon juice.
  11. 11. For tadka heat ghee in a tadka pan add cumin seeds , heeng and whole red chilly. And pour it in prepared dal
  12. 12. For batis take lemon size dough in your hands make round balls.
  13. 13. Heat appe pan and grease it with ghee. Place the balls in appe pan on slow flame.
  14. 14 cook it for 5 minutes then turn all the batis and cook them from another side.
  15. 15. For churma take wheat flour semolina and 1 table spoon ghee and make a dough. Make small batis and cook it same as in step 14.
  16. 16. Take cooked churma batis and pour it in a grinder add powdered sugar, and ghee grind it coarsely.add almonds and ghee.
  17. 17. For serving take cooked batis, break them and pour melted ghee over them. Served with piping hot dal and churma.
